How to Use the TripIt App on LinkedIn

Meeting up and reconnecting with friends and colleagues in another country or place is always a great experience.

The hard part, however, can be arranging a schedule that will suit everybody.

Fortunately, if you’re on LinkedIn, there’s a new application that makes arranging meets ups super easy.

Called TripIt, short for Travel Itinerary, what this app does is allows LinkedIn members to know where their connections are traveling to or located, at any particular time.

This then enables you to determine if there’s a common date or time when you and your colleagues will be in the same location.

TripIt – Your Personal Travel Planner

The TripIt app serves as your personal travel planner. Through this app, you can organize your flight, hotel and car rental confirmation emails.

Simply forward your confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and automatically, an itinerary will be created for your trip.

The itinerary contains a lot of information including your time and transportation details, maps and local weather forecasts.

The best part is TripIt works with many sites that offer various types of travel services you might need including restaurant and ticket reservations.

You can access your itinerary any time you want whether online or from a mobile device.

Apart from locations, you can also add maps and directions, short notes, photos and your recommendations.

It’s also very easy to share your TripIt plan with family, friends and business colleagues. Simply sync your itinerary with your calendar.

How to Get TripIt

To use this application, you need to first add it to your LinkedIn profile.

You can search for this app by going to the More section on the top bar of your profile page.

Then click Your Applications in the dropdown menu that appears.

On the next page, look for the TripIt app on the lower left column and click on it.

While you’re on the My Travel page, there’s TripIt application info on the right column and below it a blue button that says Add Application.

Clicking the button will add the app to your profile and then you’re ready to use it.

You also have the option to display the app on your LinkedIn profile or your homepage.

Once installed, your present location, upcoming travels and other travel statistics will be shared with the people in your network.

You will also be sent recommendations as to the people who might be close to where you are currently or during your next trip.

This TripIt app is now being used by numerous LinkedIn members. It has also received rave reviews from major television networks and businesses.
