Communities is one of the latest features that can be enjoyed by Google+ members.
Similar to Facebook groups, it aims to encourage sharing of information and engagement but in a more private manner. As on other social media platforms, members can post links to articles and videos and photos if they wish to.
Google+ including its communities now have a new and cleaner look. In the communities home page, the posts are now displayed in two columns and when you’re in one community, there are links on the top page to all communities you’re a part of and communities recommended for you.
When posting in Google+, you can do so in several ways. Any user can post anywhere within Google+, post into a Google+ community and also post using the +1 button even when you’re not on the site.
It should also be noted that posting on a community page does not mean that your post will automatically show in the public feed. You need to post the information or message again onto the public feed if you want it to show there as well.
How to Post in a Google+ Community
First, you will need to find the specific community wherein you’d like to post your message. Look for your communities on the right column below the circles and click on the appropriate one or click the View button.
When sharing on a community page, you will have to choose a category where your post fits. Categories are meant to organize the flow of discussion. You can see them on the left column below the profile photo of the main community page.
Click the appropriate category and you can then post your message with link, photo or video.
To post, click the box that says Share with this community and it will expand. Below you will see the category wherein you are posting and just below the message box, you will see four icons. Click one if you’d like to include a photo, video, event or link to your message.
Check that everything you’d like to share is in there then you can hit the Share button to post it in the community.
Be aware also that Google+ does not allow sharing to multiple communities.
