Business owners who are aware of the importance of social media often have a Facebook page apart from their personal Facebook profile. Facebook allows its users including companies to create a separate page wherein they can promote their business.
With a business page on this most popular social networking site, people can freely add their company name as their employer on their personal profile. This is an effective way of promoting your business through your personal Facebook account.
Keep in mind that not all your fans on your Facebook page are in your friends list. But by adding your business to your work in the personal profile section, your friends will know about this. And when they click on that link, they will be brought to the appropriate Facebook business page that you own and manage.
The steps to add your business page in the work section are fairly easy. Firstly, make sure you go to your personal profile and that you are an administrator of that particular page.
The second step is to go to the About section. You will find this link below your personal details which sit below your profile picture. Click the About link and you will be directed to a new page.
On the next page, you will see the Work and Education section on the left. On the top right of the box, there’s an Edit button with a pencil icon beside it. Click Edit to make changes in your work and education.
A box will then appear asking you “Where have you worked?” In there, you can type the name of your Facebook business page.
Do remember that if you are a page administrator, the name of your page should immediately show in the drop down box when you start typing. If so, hit Enter to add your page.
Once you’re done, click the button at the top right that says Done Editing or Finished Editing. Your changes would have been applied right away.
Your Facebook page will now show as your employer in your personal profile and will be a link on there that people can click to go to your website.
This step is most ideal for business owners who want to show in their Facebook profile the name of their business which they own and manage.
