Facebook pages continue to play a vital role in marketing products and services. They provide a free and convenient online presence for people to discover and learn about businesses they might be interested in.
In October 2014, almost one billion people visited Facebook pages with more than 750 million of them using their mobile devices.
Unfortunately today, those who are following Facebook pages can no longer see the updates on the pages they have liked. It was in the middle of 2014 when Facebook confirmed that business pages would have less organic reach in the news feed of their fans.
Facebook earlier pointed out that they will no longer display the updates or posts of pages that are too promotional. Posts considered too promotional by Facebook include those that push people to buy a product, install an app, enter promotions or sweepstakes with no real context and those that reuse the exact same content from ads.
But don’t be discouraged because there’s still a way to be updated of the business pages you are following. This can be done through the Notifications and Interest Lists features.
How to Get Notifications
If you’re a follower, you can easily set to receive notifications from each page you are following. Business owners should also encourage fans to do the same to ensure they are informed of the latest updates on your products, services and events.
Take note, however, that the person must like the page first before he or she can set this notification feature.
To set the notification, go to the business page then hover over the Liked button. Next, choose Get Notifications from the dropdown menu that shows up.
You will then be able to get updates of the pages you follow on your news feed moving forward and you will receive a notification every time the page gets updated.
Create an Interest List
The interest lists allows Facebook users to customize their news feed by selecting which pages they want to see more often. They can then include this in a special list which they can view any time they want.
It can also be viewed on mobile devices which is a sure way to maintain your visibility to your fans.
To create a list, go to a Facebook business page and hover over the Liked button. Then choose the Add to Interest Lists option and click the + New List option next.
You will then see the cover photo of the page with the check sign. From there, click the Next button below and proceed with naming your list and choosing the people who can see your list.
You have three choices – public, friends and only me which means it is completely private. Click the Done button when you’re finished.
Keep in mind that Lists can include pages, friends and subscriptions. You can group them according to specific interests.
