Compared to a still photo, videos attract more attention. On Facebook, it is possible to post a video directly as a status update on one’s personal profile or business page. However if you want to post a video that can easily be seen when people visit your Facebook page without having to scroll down, you can do it via the cover photo.

Remember that a cover photo is the first thing people see when they go to your page. Business owners should take advantage of this feature by uploading a short video that showcases their brand in several seconds.

A video uploaded to the cover photo will autoplay when a person visits your business page although with no audio. A visitor needs to click the photo in order to turn on the sound. It will be most helpful in encouraging visitors to explore your page and increase engagement.

What Makes a Great Video Cover Photo

To create an impact on your visitors through the cover photo, the video should utilize bright colors, clean lines and more white space. Every shot included must be visually appealing with or without audio to easily grab attention.

Do also consider the technical aspects. A Facebook cover video needs to be at least 820 x 312 pixels. It should last from a minimum of 20 second to as long as 90 seconds. You need to be particular about these requirements otherwise, you won’t be able to upload your video on the cover photo section.

A cover video can be used in two ways. First, to establish your brand by way of sharing a story. Second, to show people how your product works and how to use it through a tutorial video.

Uploading a video should not be difficult. Simply click the video icon on the cover photo and select a video from your library or upload a new one.
