Instagram makes it easy for its users to improve their photos before posting them for their followers to see. Apart from the filters available, there are other ways to enhance an image such as adding special effects. These effects are a great way to add drama to one’s photo.

The steps are simple if you want to apply effects on a photo. After you have taken or uploaded a photo, just tap Next and then tap Edit at the bottom of the screen.

To achieve the effects you want, here are the specific functions you can choose.

Vertical or horizontal perspective. To create this, tap Adjust and choose whether you want a vertical or horizontal perspective.

Brightness. If you want to make your image look brighter or darker, this is the function to tap.

Contrast. This function allows you to make the bright areas of an image appear brighter and make the dark sections darker.

Warmth. The warmth function either adjusts your photo to warmer orange tones or cooler blue tones.

Saturation. This part refers to the color intensity. For example, you can adjust it to make green greener or red redder.

Color. This particular function focuses on adding color to the shadows or highlights of a photo. To adjust the color’s strength, just tap it twice.

Highlights. This lets you adjust the focus on the photo’s bright areas.

Shadows. This function, on the other hand, lets you focus on the photo’s dark areas.

Fade. Instagram users who want to create an aged look for their photos should use this function.

Vignette. For a unique effect that lets you darken the edges of your photo, this is the function to use. This lets you highlight the center of the photo.

Tilt Shift. This function lets users focus on a specific subject in a photo by creating a shallow depth of field. What it does is blurs the background or foreground to focus on a particular subject.

Sharpen. To make your image appear clearer, simply tap the sharpen function.
