Facebook remains to be among the top photo sharing sites. Each day, millions of photos are posted by users from the different parts of the world.

It’s also fairly easy for Facebook users to tag friends in their photos. Unfortunately, you may not wish to be constantly tagged in photos.

Not to worry because there are ways to stop people from tagging you. The steps previously outlined in our older post are now out of date, due to updates by Facebook. Read on to discover how to untag yourself now.

How to Untag yourself from a Facebook Photo

To immediately remove the tag, first click the photo you’re tagged in. Look for the Options at the bottom of the image and click Remove tag.

You will then be shown two options with a box beside each – I want to untag myself or I want this photo removed from Facebook.

For just removing the tag, click the “I want to untag myself or remove this tag” option, then continue.

Next, click the option Remove tag created by the person (name provided) who tagged you in the photo and hit the continue button.

You will then be untagged from the photo.

Untag from Account Settings to avoid being tagged in a Facebook photo

Another way to avoid being tagged in photos is to do it via your account settings.

On the top right hand corner of your Timeline, click the cog symbol and go to Account Settings.

On the next page on the left column, click Timeline and Tagging.

Once you’re on the Timeline and Tagging Settings page, check the topmost section that says “Who can add things to my timeline?” and click Edit on the rightmost part of the section that says Review posts friends tag you in before they appear on your timeline?

On the section that opens, click the down arrow on the button that says Disabled and choose Enable.

This way, every photo or post you’re tagged in will have to be reviewed and approved by you first before they appear on your Timeline.

On the bottom portion that says “How can I manage tags people add and tagging suggestions?” click Edit to the right of the line that says Review tags people add to your own posts before the tags appear on Facebook.

Then choose to Enable it if it’s disabled. Any post or photo you’re tagged in will need your approval first before it appears on your Timeline.

Then you’re done. You’ll now have control over people tagging you in photos and know how to remove tags on photos you do not wish to be identified in.

Do you like people to tag you in photos? Leave a comment below.

Pinterest is one popular site where people can share their images. Whether you’re using the site for personal or business reasons, there’s no limit to the number of photos you can share even on a daily basis.

The best part of photo sharing on Pinterest is you can direct visitors to your personal or business website. This is because you can add a URL to an image you share on the site.

Normally when you repin an image, the url that’s automatically stored on Pinterest is that of the website where you got the photo. So when you repin an image from your own site, the url will be saved and anybody who clicks on that image will then be brought to your website.

If you upload a photo from your computer, however, there’s no option to include a website url. You can do this later when you edit the image on Pinterest.

To edit an image and add your url, first go to your boards. Click the down arrow beside your name on the top right corner of your home page. Select Your

Boards from the drop down list.

On the next page, choose the board where your image is located. Click on it and select the image. Once you’ve chosen the image, hover your mouse over it and click on the Edit link.

You can then proceed with changing the existing url, next to Source. You may also change your description and board title.

Then click Save Changes when you’re done.

Adding a url to your images is one effective way of linking your blog or website to your Pinterest account. By doing so, you have a greater chance of letting other users know more about you and what you do.

Have you included links in your Pinterest images that you pin? Leave a comment below.

The long wait is over for LinkedIn users. Finally, LinkedIn has added the now famous @ symbol as part of it’s standard functionality to mention someone in a post.

As Twitter and Facebook has done for many years (even Google+ has it), LinkedIn has joined the party and now allows the use of the @ symbol in its status update section. This means users can now mention the names of people, groups or companies they would like to include in their status update and similar to the other social networking sites that already use this, anyone added in this way will also get a notification.

On LinkedIn, the way to use the at symbol (@, above the 2 on your keyboard) is exactly the same way you use it on Twitter or Facebook.

When you log into your LinkedIn account, the status update box now states Type a name or @ to mention someone. Also, a notification via a small box with a quote icon says “Now you can type a name to mention a connection or company.”

To mention a person or company, simply type the name or type @ then a name (no space between the @ and the name) and a dropdown menu will then appear showing a list of possible names. If the name of the person or company you want to include in your status update immediately shows up, you can point to it and hit the enter button.

When I was testing this functionality, typing just a name did not generate a list of names for me. Using the @ symbol did, so maybe that’s just a teething problem. Best to use the @ symbol to make sure you do get a list of names to choose from.

Do remember that you also have several options in sharing your status update.

The default lets you share your messages and photos within LinkedIn only but if you have a Twitter account, you can choose to post to both LinkedIn and Twitter. Another option available is to share updates with just your connections on this professional networking site.

The @ symbol together with the hashtag are used millions of times every day today on various social networking sites. Not sure about the Hashtag? Read our previous article here.

Since its first use, the @ symbol slowly gained recognition until it was widely used in email, Twitter and other top social media sites. These days, it is considered one of the stars in the computer keyboard.

Will you use the @ symbol to loop others into your LinkedIn Posts? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Communities is one of the latest features that can be enjoyed by Google+ members.

Similar to Facebook groups, it aims to encourage sharing of information and engagement but in a more private manner. As on other social media platforms, members can post links to articles and videos and photos if they wish to.

Google+ including its communities now have a new and cleaner look. In the communities home page, the posts are now displayed in two columns and when you’re in one community, there are links on the top page to all communities you’re a part of and communities recommended for you.

When posting in Google+, you can do so in several ways. Any user can post anywhere within Google+, post into a Google+ community and also post using the +1 button even when you’re not on the site.

It should also be noted that posting on a community page does not mean that your post will automatically show in the public feed. You need to post the information or message again onto the public feed if you want it to show there as well.

How to Post in a Google+ Community

First, you will need to find the specific community wherein you’d like to post your message. Look for your communities on the right column below the circles and click on the appropriate one or click the View button.

When sharing on a community page, you will have to choose a category where your post fits. Categories are meant to organize the flow of discussion. You can see them on the left column below the profile photo of the main community page.

Click the appropriate category and you can then post your message with link, photo or video.

To post, click the box that says Share with this community and it will expand. Below you will see the category wherein you are posting and just below the message box, you will see four icons. Click one if you’d like to include a photo, video, event or link to your message.

Check that everything you’d like to share is in there then you can hit the Share button to post it in the community.

Be aware also that Google+ does not allow sharing to multiple communities.

Do you have a favourite community that you’d like to share? Leave a comment below.

By now, many of you will have noticed the new look of the Facebook Timeline profile.

The roll out was kicked off in March, with the goal of providing a simpler and cleaner design. Founder Mark Zuckerberg said their objectives were to reduce clutter and to reshape the presentation of Facebook into a so-called personalized newspaper.

To those of you unaware of the plan, the change may have come as a surprise, as the roll out has been staged. We only saw the change to our timeline this past week.

As always, some have easily accepted the new features while many are still wondering about the reasons for the changes – yet again. But like it or not, there’s no going back to the previous Facebook profile page.

The new look of Facebook now shows a user’s posts in a single column on the right side. The photographic tiles for the About, Friends and Photos below the Timeline cover are now simply text buttons.

The About page is now on the left column and displays the user’s interests including pages liked, movies watched, favorite activities, favorite apps, games played and recent activities.

The friends and photos are also on the left side of the page each showing nine images on a square while the Timeline navigation is now on the rightmost side.

Maps and subscriber information are no longer displayed on the top of the page. The map can be found on the Place widget at the top of the page.

Additionally, users can now share news on the music they are listening to and the concerts they plan to attend.

The ads, on the other hand, are on the rightmost column showing on the top and bottom parts sandwiching the Timeline navigation.

It’s been two years since Facebook launched its Timeline and the people behind this top social media site felt it was time for a redesign of the profile page.

The redesign came weeks after Facebook changed the look of its Newsfeed to create a less cluttered look. The new news feed now has a more visual focus featuring bigger photos, individual feeds for filtering people and content and a new navigation model.

Recent statistics show that more photos are being shared by Facebook users on the site. They do it by uploading directly to Facebook or through Instagram.

Currently, Facebook has one billion users. With two billion active internet users today, it is estimated that one in every seven people on Earth has an account on Facebook. Also, one of every two internet users are members of the site.

On Pinterest, a user has the ability to organize his or her images through the boards section. Upon signing up on Pinterest, four default boards are provided but any user can add more as he or she goes along.

A board is usually categorized according to specific topics. It is very important, therefore, to choose the right category that fits your niche or the images that you share on this popular social media site.

Also, each board needs to have a title. Again, this should be closely related to the images you are posting. For example, you may have a business related to the wedding industry and wish to create a board all about wedding cakes. Naming your board “wedding cakes” will make it very easy to find on Pinterest for those searching for similar images.

Apart from the category and title, however, there’s another important aspect that you should not forget and this is about setting a cover image for your specific boards.

Normally, Pinterest will provide a default cover image right away from the images contained in a specific board. But you can always change it any time.

How to Set a Board Cover Image

First, you need to log in to your Pinterest account. Then choose the Boards option after clicking the down arrow beside your name on the top right corner.

On the next page, choose a specific board. Hover your mouse over that board and you will then see the Edit Board Cover link. Click on that link to change the cover image.

Next step is to select which image you’d like to make as your board cover.

To select, just click the forward and back arrow on the sides of the photo shown to you. When you’ve decided on the image for your cover, simply hit the Set Cover button.

If you change your mind later on and want to display a different cover image, simply follow the same steps as above.

What is your favourite Pinterest board? Share a link to it below in the comments.

Tired of downloading and using several applications to get timely information on a daily basis? Worry no more because Google has come up with a new service that’s very helpful to people and has been voted by Popular Science as 2012 Innovation of the Year.

What is Google Now?

Called Google Now, this service gives you the right information at the time you need it most, through your mobile device or tablet.

With just a swipe, you get the latest data that you want instantly. It also has voice recognition capability which means you can ask questions and your mobile will give you an answer straight away. People who have used it say this is a better version of Apple’s Siri.

Google Now, an extension of the Google Search application, works with the Android operating system (the latest called Jelly Bean) by providing users with cards.

These cards contain information and cover various categories from weather, traffic, flights, hotels, next appointment, restaurant reservations and events to sports, movies, concerts, stocks, currency, places, translation, time at home and nearby attractions and events.

As of February 2013, more third-party services have been added as part of its fourth update since launching. These include movie ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, tickets purchased on Fandango and real estate listings from Zillow.

Relevant Information

All the information provided on the Google Now cards is pulled from the Gmail account of the user. The others are based on the search history and location of the user.

So every time you take action using your different Google accounts, Google Now recognizes them and then displays relevant information that if feels the user will need.
The airline boarding passes functionality, for example, are pulled from emails sent by United Airlines only. Additional airline companies will be included in the coming months.

Those buying movie tickets via Fandango will receive a QR code that can be scanned at theaters. Also, Google Now will give a reminder of the time they should leave to catch the film showing.

In short, this new service from the search giant can serve as your personal assistant. It’s an amazing tool that can help you organize your day and keep you updated on what’s going on around you on a timely basis. And the more you use Google products and services, the more relevant information will be provided to you.

Are you using Google Now? Leave your thoughts and comments below.

Google+ recently added a new feature that aims to encourage content sharing and engagement among like-minded people. The communities feature allows members who share the same passion, interests and who belong to the same industry or organization to interact with each other privately. It’s similar to the groups feature of Facebook and a forum or discussion board.

The creator is also normally the owner of the community. This person then manages the community by adding or inviting new members, adding categories and ensuring that appropriate engagement takes place within the community.

As the owner of the community, you also act as the moderator.

The good news is that for those that lack the time to be on Google+ on a frequent basis, you can add moderators to help you manage the group.

What is a Moderator?

The role of a moderator is to ensure that content posted by members is appropriate and related to the topic of the community. In short, the person acts as a gatekeeper to ensure that only relevant and useful information is shared within the group, keeping an eye out for spam or too much promotional information being posted by members.

A moderator has the authority to remove members who are only using the community to promote themselves, their products and services or cause spam.

In private communities, the moderator also approves requests to join a particular group.

The process in adding a moderator is simple.

On any community post, hover your mouse to the top right corner of any member’s post and you will see a drop-down arrow appear. Click this arrow to show the menu items and choose “Promote author to moderator”. Click it and instantly, that person will be promoted to a moderator in your community.

When choosing moderators, a good rule of thumb is to add a member who has a background in the specific community you’ve created.

As an example, you can pick a member who’s an active real estate investor or perhaps works in the real estate industry if you have a community focusing on real estate, such as the Real Estate Australia community.

Google+ communities are a great way to interact and engage with people who belong to the same niche as yours, who share your passion and who are as eager to share information with others.

As members of Google+, you are given the opportunity to create your own community or join in with others.

If you’re one of those who have created a community, remember that you also need to add categories for easy sharing, searching and viewing of posts. The categories you create should basically categorise your posts. Makes sense, right? Then, when your community members visit, they can click on the left hand side category for the topics they wish to view.

You can check out other communities on G+ for ideas on the categories they have that might suit yours. You can also check blogs for categories in your niche.

The discussion category is there by default, but you can remove it if you want to. By way of example, in the Real Estate Australia G+ Community, I’ve set up market trends, selling, buying, property investing, finance and so on.

How to Create a Category

To create a category, you can do it immediately right after creating your community. You can also edit or create new categories at any time.

After you’ve provided the title, tagline, profile photo and description, you can then add your categories.

By default, the Discussion category is already in place although it can be removed. Below that, you can add your specific categories one at a time.

Just type in the name in the box provided (click into the box to type) and hit your Enter key to proceed to adding more categories.

Once you’re done providing all the details for your community, click the red Save button below.

You can then promote your community on your G+ and you can also immediately start posting on the categories to start the interaction with your members.

Have you created a community or do you share on a favourite? Tell us about it in the comments below.

Firstly, happy 2013! I hope you were able to take some well deserved rest and relaxation over the Christmas period to spend time with those that matter most.

I’m going back to what I love to do.

Those that know me will know that I love all things real estate.

Many of you will remember the days of Affluencia where I showed women how to get started in real estate. A few years back, I moved more into my other love – all things online and that has been the stage for Savvy Web Women and this blog, www.WendyMoore.net.

In 2013, I’m going back to what I truly love – but, with a twist…

I’m combining my love of the online world with my passion for real estate to work with real estate agents and home sellers to get their homes seen online when they sell. Through the use of social media, websites and blogs, we now work with sellers and real estate agents to showcase their home online to catch the many eyes of potential buyers out there.

I know this works – I just did it for a very good friend of mine and the result we achieved was outstanding. Read about it here.

Through our online campaign, we were able to showcase her home and, as a result, her home sold prior to auction, for above the guide price. Outstanding! And guess what? The buyer didn’t even visit the home – he just read our blog on the home and was confident enough to make an offer that my friend happily accepted.

SocialPropertySelling.com is where you’ll find out more about our new direction.

Please do me just one favour.
I know you know people that are currently selling or looking to sell their home. Maybe even you? If I may ask just one favour…

I ask that each of you mention Social Property Selling at least once to someone you know over the next few weeks. It may be to a family member. It may be to a friend at work. It may be to your hairdresser!

If each of you mention Social Property Selling at least once to someone you know, then I know that we can quickly get word of mouth happening and we can start helping a lot of people sell their homes and achieve a fabulous result, just like we did for my friend. Thanks so much.

With warm regards,

p.s: Make sure you go take a peek at our new website
SocialPropertySelling.com.

p.p.s: Please help spread the word. Tell just one other person about Social Property Selling for me. Thanks!
