How to Create Your Profile Video on Facebook

As Facebook continues to upgrade, users now have an opportunity to create a more captivating profile. Apart from the cover photo and profile picture, it is now possible to create a profile video using your mobile device.

Called FlipYourProfile, this new Facebook feature is an app and browser plugin that allows users to replace their profile picture with a video. With this video, Facebook fans can now make their profile more interesting and attention-grabbing.


Do take note, however, that only those who have installed the plugin will be able to see the video. If not, you will only get to see the usual Facebook profile photo.

This new Facebook app was created by Cisco in tandem with DDB Singapore. The idea was to promote Cisco’s line of Flip video cameras.

How to Install the App

To install the FlipYourProfile app, go to and download the plugin specific to your browser. Then restart your browser.

Next connect your profile with the app and start shooting your video. Once done, send your video by emailing a video from your Flip Video cam to

Other options are to upload an existing video or use the Profile Maker to shoot a video via your webcam.

How to Shoot a Video

To shoot a video, open the Facebook app on your iPhone. Then tap the “More” button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. When you see your name, tap it to go to your profile.

Next, tap your current profile. A menu will then appear with options such as “Take a New Profile Video” or “Coming soon.” If the first option is available, you can proceed with recording a short video. Or you can simply upload an existing video.
